If you are stuck for an idea of where to go on holiday this year, take a look at some of the most prestigious hotels in the world.
Travel advice website TripAdvisor has announced the winners of its annual Travellers’ Choice Awards, with a range of different establishments making the final cut.
Now in its 10th year, the awards celebrate hotels in a number of different categories, including Best Hotel, Best Luxury Hotel, Best Bargain, Best for Service, Best All-Inclusive, and Best Bed and Breakfast.
The coveted ‘Best Hotel in the World’ award went to the Phoenix Resort hotel in San Pedro, Belize, which was closely followed by Anastasis Apartments in Greece.
There was also a notable victory for Britain, with The Twenty One in Brighton walking away with the Best Bed and Breakfast award.
The winners are all determined by the millions of reviews and opinions of travellers who use the website around the world.
The awards have been expanded this year, with dedicated lists for 30 different countries and eight different regions around the world.
In terms of the top hotels in the UK, TripAdvisor’s top 25 featured all manner of hotels from around the country.
The top spot was taken by the Charterhouse Hotel in Torquay, which beat the Hillside Hotel in Ventnor and the Rudding Park Hotel in Harrogate to victory.
For those looking for a bargain, the Elmdene Hotel in Torquay took the award for Best Bargain Hotel in the UK.
“TripAdvisor is incredibly proud to announce its Travellers’ Choice award-winning hotels for the tenth year,” said Barbara Messing, Chief Marketing Officer for TripAdvisor.
“We’re also thrilled to grow our awards with winner lists for twice as many markets globally this year, as we continue our mission to help more travellers around the world plan and have the perfect trip.”
If you are planning on going abroad this year, consider taking out appropriate travel insurance to ensure you are covered if anything unexpected happens while you’re away.
