Heading to the land down under is something most of us dream of doing in our lifetime. Whether it’s for a two week holiday or for a two month travelling experience, Australia has a magical hold over us.
As Australia is on the other side of the world, it is completely different to Britain and Europe in a range of ways. There are a number of things to bear in mind should you decide to take a trip down under, but what travel essentials will you need?
Australian Visa
The most important thing to remember before you head to Australia is a Visa. Australia has very strict immigration rules, so you’ll need a Visa even if you’re only going for a couple of weeks.
It might sound like a lot of complicated hassle, but the Australian authorities make it as simple as possible to obtain a Visa. But be sure to apply well in advance of your travel dates – they can take a while to be processed.
Insect repellent
Australia is known for its tropical climates, especially in the summer months. It is a reason why many of us want to go there, but with the warm climate comes a lot of insects.
Mosquitoes are very common, especially in the northern regions of the country, so a good insect repellent is vital to stop you getting bitten to shreds.
Sun protection
Another feature of the tropical climate of Australia is, of course, the sun. The sun shines for most of the year in Australia, and as the country is close to the equator its rays are very powerful.
So while it’s tempting to wear shorts and a T-shirt every day, remember to apply high factor sun cream and wear a neck-covering hat during the day.
If you are planning a trip abroad this year, travel money is another essential that you might want to think about before you go.
Investing in travel money before you leave could save you money, plus you could get a much better exchange rate.
