From £27 a year, you can make up to six call-outs a year, if you’re more than a quarter of a mile from home. Maximum vehicle age for new cover is 10 years old.
From £78 a year, there are no age limits on covered cars and you can benefit from home assist. Hire cars or alternative transport also included as standard.

All the different tiers of Breakdown Cover offer assistance over a 1⁄4 mile away to ensure we can get you going no matter where you are. You also get local recovery up to 10 miles away from wherever you break down, so you can get your car back home or to the nearest garage if the problem can’t be fixed at the roadside. Asda partnered with Britannia Rescue Breakdown offer three types of breakdown cover for your vehicle, ranging from standard roadside coverage up to assistance anywhere in Europe.
From a puncture to engine troubles, you never know when something might go wrong on a long journey. By having Breakdown Cover with Asda's Partner Britannia Rescue, you know you can rely on roadside recovery anywhere in the UK.
If you’re not insured for breakdown cover then you can still make a call out to one of the many companies that offer breakdown assistance, but you will have to pay whatever fees they charge for non-members which can be very expensive compared to having your own breakdown cover.
Roadside Cover lets you make up to six call-outs a year, so you’ll be covered anywhere in the UK if you’re at least a quarter of a mile from home. The maximum vehicle age for new Roadside Cover policies is 10 years old.
UK Breakdown Cover has no vehicle age limits, providing assistance for almost any vehicle. It includes Home Assist to help if your car won’t start, plus recovery to a local garage if needed. A hire car or alternative transport can be provided if your vehicle breaks down unexpectedly.
European Breakdown Cover is perfect if you think you’ll be going continental in the next 12 months and still want all the benefits of our UK Breakdown Cover like alternative transport if necessary and Home Assist.
With breakdown cover, you get roadside assistance if your vehicle breaks down. A trained professional will attempt to fix your car by the side of the road. If it can’t be fixed, you’ll usually be towed to a garage nearby.
If you break down on the roadside, you’ll need to switch on your hazard lights to warn other vehicles. Then, when it is safe to do so, get out of your vehicle and stand away from the road at a safe distance. Britannia Rescue aims to attend most breakdowns within one hour. If there’s a delay, you’ll be kept informed so you know when to expect help.
Roadside assistance is a form of breakdown cover which helps if your car breaks down but has restrictions on where you can get help and limits on the number of callouts you can make per year.
Other breakdown cover policies, such as UK Breakdown Cover and European Breakdown Cover, give you access to roadside assistance but have less restrictions and unlimited callouts, as well as other useful features which can be helpful in a wider range of breakdown situations.
Home start or home assist in a breakdown cover policy means that you can request breakdown help at your home address. Some types of cover, such as our Roadside Cover, won’t include assistance if you’re at home, so it’s worth checking the details of a policy to be sure it’s included. This can be especially useful if you rely on your car for work and travel from home often.
Standard breakdown cover will give you vehicle cover, meaning that only the specific vehicle named in the policy is covered. However, you can typically add a second car as an optional extra for a small fee.
When you take out breakdown cover through Asda Money’s partner Britannia Rescue, you can get roadside recovery from £27 a year.
Some insurers offer breakdown cover as an optional add-on for fully comprehensive car insurance. If you think you may already have UK breakdown cover in place, check your policy documents with your current insurer.
