What is multi pet insurance?

With multi pet insurance, you’ll have cover for all your cats and dogs in one place.

When you take out multiple pet insurance policies with Asda Money, you receive a 10% discount on every plan. Insure as many pets as you want, and they’ll each have their own policy. So, that’s pet insurance for two dogs or cats (or more) all managed in one place.

The discount applies to both pets, provided the named policyholder and registered address are the same for each policy. If your second policy is purchased later, you’ll need to contact us to link the policies and receive the discount. Subject to minimum premiums. The multi-pet discount will be removed at your next renewal if you switch to insuring just one pet.

How much does pet insurance cost for multiple pets?

The cost of multi pet insurance depends on a range of factors, including:

  • The level of cover you choose: Lifetime will often be more expensive than time limited as it offers a more comprehensive level of cover.
  • Location: The cost of vet fees and treatments vary depending on where you live in the country. Pet insurance premiums vary to reflect these costs in different parts of the UK.
  • Age: As your pet gets older, the amount you pay for their insurance may increase as there is a greater chance of them becoming ill or injured.
  • Pet breed: Some breeds are more susceptible to certain health conditions and are more expensive to insure.
  • Claim history: If you’ve made claims on your policy, your premium will likely increase when you renew.
  • Excess: Your excess is how much you pay when claiming on your pet insurance. The higher the excess, the lower the premium. Just make sure you choose an excess you can afford to pay.

Is multi pet insurance worth it?

Plus, with Asda Money, you’ll also receive a 10% discount for each new policy.

What levels of pet insurance are available for multiple pets?

At Asda Money, you can choose either lifetime pet insurance or time limited pet insurance. With lifetime, your pet will be covered for any new condition or illness for life up to an agreed amount each year – from £2,000 to £10,000 annually.

When you choose time limited, you can claim for any new condition up to a maximum of 12 months in line with the agreed limit.

What’s included in multi pet insurance?

It depends on whether you choose lifetime pet insurance or time-limited pet insurance. Always check your policy carefully to see what’s included. The following will usually be included in a multi pet insurance policy:

  • Vet fees: For treatment for a new illness or injury. With lifetime, you can claim for a set amount each year. With time limited you can only claim for a new condition for 12 months up to a set limit.
  • Boarding costs: Putting your cat into a cattery or dog into a kennel if you’ve had to stay at the hospital.
  • Third party liability cover: Claims that are made against you for loss or damage caused by your dog. This doesn’t apply to cats.
  • Cover for lost or stolen pets: Cover for the cost of advertising needed to bring your pet home. Your insurer may also pay a portion of your pet’s purchase price if they can’t be found.
  • Complementary therapies: Such as acupuncture or hydrotherapy if recommended by your vet.
  • Euthanasia: Covering the cost of putting your pet to sleep.
Will my pet insurance premium increase each year with multi pet insurance?
