History of Greyhound Dogs

The lean and speedy Greyhound breed originates from Europe but can be traced back as far as 4000BC to ancient Egypt. This breed was a popular companion to Faros and Greek emperors. Originally created for hunting purposes, they hunted by sight and are part of the sighthound group. One of the oldest purebred dogs, this breed with its aerodynamic body and streamlined and narrow head is literally built for speed. They are the fastest dog in the world and have a rich racing history which began in the 16th century.

How Much Grooming Do Greyhounds Need?

How Much Exercise Do Greyhounds Need?

Greyhounds were built to run but they require less daily exercise than you would imagine. Outside of their daily walks, they are happy to lay around your home as long as they have a comfortable spot to enjoy. While Greyhounds are docile and quiet indoors, they require daily exercise of at least 30-60 minutes and if possible, somewhere they can be let off the lead to run. A beach is the perfect place to watch your Greyhound reach those high speeds and burn off any pent-up energy. This breed loves the water and also loves to dig and so the beach is a great place for them to play and saves your garden or backyard from being dug up.
