What does golf travel insurance cover?
Through Asda Money, you can add optional golf cover to your travel insurance policy. Here’s what’s included when you choose this upgrade:
Golf equipment
You’re covered for a total of £1,500 for all your golf equipment, with a maximum value of £250 per individual item. This covers you if you lose your golf clubs, golf bags, non-motorised golf trolley and golf shoes or if they are stolen or damaged during your trip.
Hiring golf equipment
If you’ve hired clubs, bags, trolleys, golf shoes and other items you’ll be covered for £20 per day up to a maximum of £200 if:
- Your golf equipment is delayed during your trip for over 12 hours
- You lose your golf equipment, or it is damaged during your trip
Green fees
If you fall ill or are injured during your holiday and can’t continue with your golf activities, you’ll be covered for green fees, equipment hire or tuition fees - up to £75 per day, with a total limit of £300.
You’ll need a medical certificate confirming you’re unable to play. You’re also covered if lost or stolen documents prevent you from joining a prepaid golfing activity.
Do you need golf travel insurance?
Golf travel insurance isn’t a legal requirement for a golfing holiday - and neither is standard travel insurance - but both can offer peace of mind if you’re heading abroad to play golf with expensive equipment.
Standard travel insurance through Asda Money includes protection for:
- Medical expenses if you’re injured or in an accident on holiday
- Lost or stolen luggage
- Flight cancellations
- Losing your passport or other travel documents
- Legal expenses
- Cancelling or cutting short your holiday due to an illness or injury
By adding optional golf cover to your travel insurance policy, you can protect your golf clubs and equipment with higher personal possessions cover. You’ll also be covered for things like club hire and green fees if illness or travel delays stop you from playing as planned.
How much does golf travel insurance cost?
There are a range of factors that can influence how much you pay for optional travel insurance add-ons, such as golf cover, including:
- The policy you choose: You’ll likely pay more for annual multi-trip insurance than single trip, but if you’re travelling three or more times a year, it might be more cost-effective than buying a single trip policy each time you travel.
- Where you’re travelling to: Places like the Caribbean and USA have much more expensive medical costs than Europe for example. If you’re travelling here, you’ll need travel insurance that specifically covers these destinations.
- Your age: As you age, you’re more likely to need medical treatment abroad, which can push up the price of your premiums.
- Pre-existing medical conditions: If you already have medical conditions that could require treatment abroad, this will likely increase the cost of your travel insurance premiums.
What does golf insurance cover for golf clubs?
When you take out golf cover through Asda Money travel insurance, your golf clubs are covered up to a maximum amount of £1,500 and £250 per club.
You’ll be covered if you lose your clubs – whether on your flight or in your accommodation – or if they’re stolen during your trip.
