Should I buy Philippine pesos now or wait?

It pays to prepare ahead of time. And just like organising your travel insurance, it makes sense to arrange your foreign currency before travelling to ensure you get a competitive rate.

Whilst you’ll find plenty of exchange bureaux in the Philippines, you may not be offered the most competitive rates around tourist sites and in hotels. If you use ATMs to withdraw money while you’re on holiday, or you pay using your British bank cards, you may also be charged additional fees.

When you exchange your currency with Asda Travel Money, you’re guaranteed our Price Promise. This means we’ll beat the exchange rate of any competitors within 5 miles. So, you can jet off on holiday without having to worry about poor exchange rates or hidden fees.

Common Philippine Peso Questions

How much cash can I bring from the UK to the Philippines?

You can’t bring in more than 50,000 Philippine pesos in cash with you into the Philippines. If you’re bringing in foreign currency worth more than 10,000 US dollars (around £7,800), you’ll have to complete a foreign currency declaration form on arrival in the Philippines [8]. You’ll also need to declare at UK customs if you’re taking more than £10,000 of cash out of the UK [9].

Is it better to use cards or cash in the Philippines?

Whilst you’ll likely be able to use your bank cards at many locations throughout the Philippines, you’ll usually be given a less competitive exchange rate. Plus, you may be charged an additional foreign transaction fee too. To ensure your money goes further, exchange your British pounds to Philippine pesos before you travel.

Can I get pesos at any bank?

You can exchange pounds for Philippine pesos at some banks. And whilst you’ll most likely be able to withdraw pesos using your bank cards at ATMs in the Philippines, you likely won’t get a competitive exchange rate. By swapping pounds to Philippine pesos with Asda Travel Money, you can make sure you get a competitive exchange rate before you travel.

How much is 1 GBP to 1 PHP?

£1 converts to around 68.99 PHP*.
